Episode 14 - A Thing Rests By Changing

    Recorded LIVE Feb 7, 2022

The title of episode 14, in The Change Zone - ‘A Thing Rests by Changing!’ is a paradox alright. By musing upon it, Gail McDonald and Susan Sneath explore connecting the dots in new ways.

How could this absurd stance that changing is more restful than remaining in place be helpful? One might pause for a moment and let important things catch up with you.

You could be on the lookout for more paradoxes. The ability to entertain 2 contradictory ideas at the same time is guaranteed to freshen up your point of view.

    Recorded LIVE Feb 14, 2022

In episode 15 of The Change Zone – ‘Commit, Choose, Change, Laugh’, Gail McDonald and Susan Sneath consider ‘How to follow Your Heart with Practical Feet!’

What could you commit to, No Matter What?

Of course, shifting perspectives, questions and strategies always follow in The Change Zone: among them, the perspective of committing to follow Your Heart with Practical Feet!

How might we take that one on?

The work of cross-cultural anthropologist Angeles Arrien, in her bookThe Four-Fold Way speaks of the heart as a metaphor to guide and bring healing perspectives.

Laughter is a great medicine here too!

Where are you open-hearted as opposed to closed-hearted?

Where are you full-hearted as opposed to half-hearted?

Where are you clear-hearted as opposed to…?

Where are you strong hearted as opposed to…?

You get the idea and there’s more.

Tune in to uncover and discover the what, the where and the hows of ‘Playing’ that concept forward together.

In episode 20, "Hold Steady or Make a Change!" we welcome Kyle Grey- (ICF Certified Health Coach and ICF Certified Life Coach), into The Change Zone.

Kyle shares his holistic approach that focuses on 3 Pillars, Fitness, Nutrition, and Mental Conditioning, which empowers clients to improve their health, increase their vitality, strengthen their emotional resiliency, and improve their relationship with others. This approach is well-founded. Kyle really knows the difference between mere knowledge and the power that comes from lived experience.

    Who is Kyle Grey?

Kyle is a certified Health & Wellness Coach with KCG TRIAD Coaching & Consulting – ‘From the moment I set out to obtain my certifications as a Health Coach, and Life Coach (both ICF certified), I knew that I was on the right path.’

He notes “It is my greatest blessing that through this process of becoming a Health & Wellness Coach, I have truly discovered my greater calling.”

Most people have some awareness that our thoughts play a role in our wellbeing, and how things like the placebo effect can influence health outcomes, but not many people have put in the consistent work required to re-wire the brain and create new neural pathways that create lasting transformation.

Kyle saw that the emerging field of coaching could effectively make the difference between people simply having that information and integrating it into their lives to create lasting change

He is committed to sharing the wisdom gained through the study of holistic healing modalities, personal experiences, both in failure and success, that have allowed himself and others to overcome self-limiting beliefs and achieve major transformational breakthroughs.

  • Episode 22 - The Eye of The Storm!

    Recorded LIVE April 4, 2022

In episode 22 ”The Eye of The Storm!” we invite Option Maker Kathryn Zukof into The Change Zone. Kathy is the author of The Hard and Soft Sides of Change Management. She’s a thought leader and advisor to people and organizations as they wrestle with change, leadership development and organizational learning. It can feel like the storms of change are all around us these days. We could use an Option Maker. What is an Option Maker anyway? An Option Maker is simply someone who can calmly help you identify and take advantage of opportunities you hadn’t previously considered. Kathy’s favourite question is “What questions haven’t you asked?” Cheerfully passionate about the concept of polarities – she delights in uncovering “both-and” solutions!

She will bring the” Red Team” or “Devil’s Advocate” concept into play in The Change Zone. Kathy reveals how she makes bold moves in her personal life journey, while being “inner critic dominant”!

She takes on a variety of roles to sustain her “Calm in The Eye of The Storm” demeanor: Meditator; Gardener; Writer; Guest Speaker and Lecturer. Kathy is an avid walker, currently pondering which path (physical and metaphorical) to explore next.

    Who is Kathryn Zukof

Over the past 30+ years, Kathryn Zukof has worked as a Learning and Organizational Development practitioner and educator in industries ranging from manufacturing to higher education to technology services. Her work has focused on helping organizations create and implement innovative approaches to leadership development and succession management, foster an environment of continuous learning, and plan and navigate through transformational change. Kathryn is fascinated by the concept of polarities. How do you achieve the "both-and" while addressing seemingly opposite and competing forces? How can you integrate both the hard and soft sides of change management? How can you focus on both productivity and learning? How do you accomplish business results and meet the needs of the individuals working within your organization? How do you find a career that's both emotionally and financially rewarding?

Kathryn has a PhD in Social Psychology and an MBA in Marketing. She has taught graduate and undergraduate courses in Industrial and Organizational Psychology, Research Methods, and Marketing. Before transitioning to a career in Learning and Organizational Development, Kathryn held management roles in client relations, product development, and marketing in the technology services sector.

She is the author of “The Hard and Soft Sides of Change Management: Tools for Managing Process and People”, available through Amazon.com. Right now, Kathryn is pondering, planning, and experimenting with what she'll do next with her career. She'll let everyone know ... once she has figured it out!

She loves reading and recommends to many friends “Quiet – The Power of Introverts in a World that Can’t Stop Talking” by Susan Cain. You can connect with her on LinkedIn.

Episode 23 - Why Chatter Matters – The MAGIC Is In The ACTION!

    Recorded LIVE April 11, 2022

In episode 23 “Why Chatter Matters – The MAGIC Is In The ACTION!”
Gail McDonald, TranscendentSelf Change Optimization specialist and Susan Sneath, Story-Architect/ of "The Change Zone" will be tackling a vital phenomenon – the chatter/commentary that continually plays out in our heads. More than anything it is essential to clear away mind space to be able to grow the seeds of our best selves. Does Chatter matter – it does and yet why? The Magic is in the Action! What action do we mean?

We’ll be examining the strategies of Choice - choosing/daring to listen to our thinking and its patterns. Trevor Dodge mentioned in episode #21 “Make an Impact – Strive To Serve!” if he had advice to give his younger troubled/angry self it would be: “Listen to what you are thinking and reach out. Don’t hold it all inside!”
Kathryn Zukof noted in episode #22 “The Eye of the Storm” – look for the questions you haven’t asked. What future are you envisioning for yourself and how could you start taking actions to live that right now?

It takes deep listening and self-awareness to ask;

    • What choices are before you? Are they negative or positive?

    • Who’s the Boss of You, Your Inner Critic, or Inner Coach?

    • What activities, systems, or perceptions work for you in improving your mental self?

Food for thought, clues for reflection and action reside in previous episodes of The Change Zone such as:

Episode #8 “How’s Your Thinking Coloured Today?”
Episode #6 "Being Okay With Not Being Okay!"
Episode #7 "Say Yes To What’s Next!"
    Episode #2 "The Judgement Train.”

And again, Kathy Zukof mentioned in our last episode #22, “The Eye of the Storm,” a skillful debrief – What were the results? What didn’t work? What have I learned? What can I do next time?

The Magic is in the Action – choose, listen, learn, share and dare to step boldly into the Change right before us!

    See you soon!

Episode 24 - Let go of the Past - Move into the Now!

    Recorded LIVE April 18, 2022

In episode 24, “Let go of the Past – Move into the Now!” The Change Zone welcomes Katie Hudson, a Creative and a Professional Organizer (Tidy Katie).

Are you tired of feeling a certain way in your space, not finding your stuff and that disorder brings chaos to your day? Never fear Katie is here!

Katie notes that organizing goes beyond our physical items. “It is more than just stuff; it is your peace of mind and well-being. Tidying brings us into the now. We are intentional, make choices, we let go of guilt and shame.”

Katie guides us to move out of the past. Move into the now. Tidying brings us into the now. It’s about letting go of our stuff and our emotional baggage attached to our stuff.

Katie will share the “secret” of organizing. We are greatly affected by the energy of our space. The organizing of our things affects our mental health. The skills in organizing can translate to other areas of our lives, mental health, boundaries and so on.

Everyone has different ideas of being organized and Katie delights in finding and adjusting a personal fit or balance to a diverse clientele. Her rule of thumb is “Organize your stuff so you aren’t afraid to make a mess!”

    Who is Katie Hudson?

Katie Hudson is a Creative, a new-ish mom with a 2-year-old AND a Professional Organizer from Edmonton, Canada. Her business, Tidy Katie, specializes in home-based organizing with a special passion for clothing closets as well as working with young families.

She is a member of Professional Organizers of Canada (a great group of woman all specializing in different Organizing areas.)

Through this forum she stays informed, accountable and takes courses/workshops.

However, she is expecting another baby in September, has a dog named Teddy and notes with a laugh “These little ones really put my organizational skills to the test! I really levelled up after they came into my life! Ongoing!”

Katie is a Creative through and through. She has a drama degree from the University of Alberta and a Radio & Television diploma from NAIT. She worked in media for just over 2 years- as a news writer and a fill-in on air for traffic and weather. She is a Musical Improviser and have even gotten to improvise internationally in Phoenix and New York.

She is a videographer for “The Skirts a Fire” festival featuring the work of women and those who identify as non-binary.

“Maybe the common link here, is I love anything that connects me with people and where I can help them to discover how worthy they are of being happy, creative or whatever it is they strive to be. I also love helping to create community that lifts people up!

As a creative I love making messes and I don’t like stuff to hold me back so I get organized so I can create, be, play with my little one and make a big creative mess! My workspace too! Then I can tidy up at the end of the day and since I have a place for stuff it’s do-able!

When Katie is not organizing, she can be found filming and editing documentary-based films or on stage as a cast member of “The 11 O’clock Number”- an Improvised musical.
